Pelican Landing and the Colony Homes For Sale in Bonita Springs
Pelican Landing and the Colony at Pelican Landing real estate - Pelican Landing is built on 2,365 acres of natural, pristine beauty which blends well with its developments. It is bordered by Spring Creek to the south and Estero Bay to the West. Before there was a Pelican Landing there was just Pelican's Nest, a golf course designed by Tom Fazio, built in 1985. The centerpiece of the Pelican's Nest Golf Club is its 45,000 square foot clubhouse with multiple dining options and indoor and outdoor retreats for socializing, large ballrooms for personal, corporate and club events.
Pelican's Nest became so popular that Pelican Landing was added with its first residents moving in by 1990. Pelican Landing went to great length to preserve, protect and enhance the natural environment. It still encourages owners to use existing vegetation in their landscaping plans and to supplement with native plants if possible. The result is that the single family homes, coach homes, condominium complexes up to 7 floors and attached and detached villas blend well with their natural setting.
The Colony at Pelican Landing was added later with its high-rises overlooking Estero Bay, as described under Bonita Springs High-Rises on this website. You also find single family homes and mid-rize condos at the Colony. The Colony at Pelican Landings is a relatively new community, connected to Pelican Landing via a private gate. You also enter the Colony from Coconut Rd. The Colony has it's own Private Bay Club with restaurant. The Colony at Pelican Landing also has its own golf course, own community center and own clubhouse. Home Owners at the Colony are also permitted to enjoy all amenities at Pelican Landing because they must also pay the Pelican Landing Master HOA. But residents at Pelican Landing may not use any of the amenities at the Colony. Listings from the Colony are included here.
Both communities share a private beach at Pelican Landing Beach Park on Big Hickory Island, south of Lover's Key, This Park is accessible only by private boat or a water-taxi. The water taxi leaves at the end of Coconut Rd, next to the Hyatt Regency, which also operates the beach club.
